Welcome to my Blog!

My name is Victoria Malcolm and I'm a graduate student and assistant studying Information Systems at EMU. As a student, I have a concentration in Business Analytics and have taken courses on topics like C#, HTML/CSS Web Design, statistical analysis programs including AI Studio (formerly Rapid Miner) and rStudio, business data communications and security, and organizational theory. I am halfway through my two-year program and I'm currently enrolled in an accounting class this summer. As a graduate assistant, I work with professors on research about the applications and implications of AI. I'm very interested in how AI can be used as well as how we can govern it responsibly.
I will be using this blog as a way to discuss and reflect on my progress throughout the summer and beyond. This summer I am/plan to do the following:
Working at property tech startup Livsee from June through August as an Analytics and Systems associate: Livsee built an AI chatbot that property management companies can use to reach out to potential renters and help to match them with their ideal unit or property. I'll definitely be writing more about Livsee this summer. So far, I am hoping to help clean data for lead generation, assist in the SOC2 compliance process, and improve marketing analytics.
Achieving Center for Digital Engagement/Ann Arbor Spark Digital Media Certification: I was selected as one of 48 interns for the Digital Summer Clinic which culminates in this certification. Requirements encapsulate my work with Livsee, this blog, optimizing my LinkedIn profile and resume, attending weekly cohort meetings and clinic-wide all hands meetings, and passing the Google Analytics certification test.
Accounting Course: My background is in Education so I am taking some classes to enhance my business knowledge through the local community college. While Information Systems is not specific to one discipline, having knowledge about business activities and what systems that support them would need to function is pretty essential. I appreciate that this course includes activities with Tableau which is a pretty popular accounting software. As of today, 6/22, I am 6 weeks into the class and have a 98% so I feel confident that I will be able to complete the class.
Thanks for reading! I'm looking forward to sharing more about what I'm working on this summer.
